Pat Sajak Opens Up About Recent Surgery

“Wheel of Fortune” host Pat Sajak recently revealed that he underwent emergency surgery for a clogged intestine. In an interview with “Good Morning America,” Sajak shared his experience and how he thought he might not make it through the procedure.

Last month, Sajak started experiencing intense pain while on a daily stroll with his daughter. The pain worsened, and he ended up needing surgery. Reflecting on the agonizing moments before the procedure, Sajak said, “I was lying on the bed in the fetal position, and none of the drugs they gave me seemed to work.”

However, Sajak recalled a pivotal moment during his ordeal when the pain briefly faded away. He described seeing vibrant colors and hearing his wife and daughter’s voices in the background. Sajak admitted that he even thought, “I guess this must be death.” Fortunately, he made it through the surgery and realized he was “only stoned.”

The surgery was successful, and doctors found no underlying cause for the intestinal blockage. Sajak expressed his relief, saying, “Since a few weeks ago, I’ve been feeling fantastic.” He has resumed his work on the show and assured fans that everything is back to normal. Sajak even joked about his co-host, Vanna White, possibly replacing him, saying, “I learned she enjoys hosting, and I’m a little nervous.”

Who Will Succeed Pat Sajak?

After Pat Sajak announced his retirement from “Wheel of Fortune,” rumors circulated about who would take over as the new host. Speculations ranged from Vanna White to other potential candidates. However, it has now been confirmed that Ryan Seacrest will be stepping into the role.

In a statement, Seacrest expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to succeed the legendary Pat Sajak. He acknowledged Sajak’s contributions and the joy he brought to millions of viewers over the past 40 years. Seacrest humbly stated, “As we go through this transition, I’m excited to learn from you and continue the wheel-spinning legacy.”
