Pat Sajak Opens Up About His Recent Health Scare

Wheel of Fortune host, Pat Sajak, recently shared his experience of undergoing emergency surgery for a clogged intestine, leaving him with fears of mortality. In a candid interview with “Good Morning America,” the game show presenter revealed that the excruciating pain he felt in November while on a stroll with his daughter led to an urgent need for surgery.

Sajak described the intensity of his discomfort, stating, “I was lying on the bed in the fetal position. They tried various drugs to manage my pain, but nothing seemed to work.” However, he recollected that his anxiety was alleviated after receiving medication administered by his doctors.

“I suddenly experienced a face coming out of these wonderful hues,” he recounted. “In that moment, I realized that the pain had disappeared, and I could hear my daughter and wife talking in the background. Although they were physically beside me, they seemed miles away. I remember thinking, ‘I guess this must be death.’”

Thankfully, Sajak’s surgery was successful, and he swiftly recovered. Reflecting on his ordeal, he humorously admitted, “It turns out I was only stoned.” He expressed his relief that his wife and children did not have to face the aftermath he had feared.

The medical professionals found no underlying cause for the intestinal blockage, allowing Sajak to maintain his current lifestyle. Delighted with his progress, he happily declared, “Since a few weeks ago, I’ve been feeling fantastic. I’ve already returned to work and feel confident that everything is okay.”

During his recovery, Sajak’s long-time co-host, Vanna White, took over hosting duties on “Wheel of Fortune.” Sajak made light of his apprehension that White might replace him permanently, joking, “I learned she enjoys hosting, and I’m a little nervous.”

Sajak’s charismatic presence on the show remains unchanged. He expressed his enthusiasm for continuing to entertain audiences, assuring them, “I still have my wits about me. They’ve kept me in place, so I’ll keep selling vowels for a very long time.”

Vanna White, an unknown face, or someone renowned for their work ethic were all considered possibilities. However, the wait is finally over, as it has been officially announced that Ryan Seacrest will be taking on the role of the new host of Wheel of Fortune.
