A Father’s Unusual Act of Love

When we are young, there’s one problem that most of us experience sooner or later – having an ‘accident’. Five-year-old Valerie Sowards found herself in such a situation while at school, and naturally, she was upset and wanted to go home.

Dad Gets Call About Daughter's 'Accident' So He Picks Her Up With His Own 'Accident'

Upon receiving the call from Valerie’s teacher, her father, Ben, felt his heart “kind of just broke”. Being the father of 11 children, he knew how difficult and embarrassing this situation could be. So, before heading off to pick up Valerie, he did something most people would consider unusual – he splashed water on the front of his pants.

Arriving at the school, Ben asked for Valerie’s backpack so he could cover up his own ‘accident’. When Valerie looked up at her father, she was met with a smile. Suddenly, her own problem didn’t seem so large anymore.

Valerie’s older sister, Lucinda, posted pictures of this heartfelt moment on Twitter, and within no time, they went viral. People from all walks of life applauded this father’s actions, giving him an A+ for his efforts and calling it “absolutely fantastic” and the “cutest thing ever”.

It is without a doubt that Ben deserves recognition for his loving act towards his daughter. He truly knows how to make his children feel better when problems occur. In the past, when Lucinda had a black eye from ice-skating, Ben painted his eye black and FaceTimed her – just to make her feel better.

Having a role model for parenting goals is always helpful. And this father seems to have his act together.
